Emma Bunnell
Emma Bunnell is the Chief Operations Officer at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Emma joined Commonwealth Bank in February 2025 and is responsible for all banking, markets and group regulatory operations across Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Emma is a highly experienced international banking executive, with a background covering strategy, customer service, operations, and technology. She has more than 20 years of financial services experience working across Europe, America, and Australasia.
Emma joined Commonwealth Bank from HSBC where she held positions as a HSBC Country Chief Executive Officer and the HSBC UK Chief Operating Officer. Both roles involved working closing with banking regulators and serving business, retail, wealth management and private banking customers.
Prior to HSBC, Emma was a Partner and Managing Director at the Boston Consulting Group, advising Financial Services Boards and Executive Teams.
Emma has a Bachelor of Science, first class honours from the University of New South Wales.
She has returned home to Australia with her family after a significant period abroad.
