Why do I need to update my debit card details in my Apple digital wallet?

  • Due to an industry-wide eftpos update affecting debit cards, we recommend that you, as an impacted customer, remove and re-add your debit card details in your Apple digital wallet(s) by 31 December 2024. Otherwise, you’ll be unable to pay using eftpos in your digital wallet(s) from midnight 31 December 2024. You can find out more about this on the eftpos website.

What about if I use CommBank Tap & Pay?

  • To keep using eftpos in your Tap & Pay digital wallet, you should download the latest version of the CommBank app by 31 December 2024.

    If you experience problems with eftpos transactions from 1 Jan 2025, please use an alternative means to pay, for example your physical card, or Mastercard/Visa option in the Tap & Pay wallet.

How do I update my card details from my wallet?  

  • Apple iPhone

    Remove your debit card from Apple Pay on your iPhone:

    1. Open Wallet > tap your CommBank debit card
    2. Tap … in the upper right corner
    3. Select Card Details
    4. Select Remove Card

    Add your debit card back into Apple Pay on your iPhone:

    1. Open the Wallet app > tap the + sign in the upper right corner and follow the prompts
    2. When prompted to add your card, select Debit or Credit Card
    3. Add your card using the iPhone camera/chip to capture the card information or by manually entering your card details
    4. If you don’t know your debit card details, you can find them in the ‘Cards’ tab in the CommBank app. You can copy your card number from card settings

     

How do I update my payment option from eftpos to Mastercard or Visa in my Commbank Tap & Pay wallet?

When you present your phone at a terminal to pay, you can choose: Mastercard/Visa or eftpos SAV/CHQ. As a CommBank Tap & Pay customer you need to download the latest version of the CommBank app by 31 December 2024 to keep using eftpos in your Tap & Pay digital wallet.

If you experience problems with eftpos transactions from 1 Jan 2025, please use another way to pay, for example your physical card or Mastercard/Visa option in the Tap & Pay wallet.
