In response to sustained flooding events across Australia’s east coast, Commonwealth Bank is teaming up with charity organisation Thread Together to bring brand-new clothing to communities affected by the recent floods across New South Wales and Victoria.

Thread Together provide unsold new clothing from fashion retailers to people in need across Australia for free via clothing hubs, mobile wardrobes and an online wardrobe service. As a joint initiative with CBA, Thread Together will deploy these valuable services to communities across the Northern Rivers, North West and the Riverina region of New South Wales & northern Victoria, and will provide thousands of individuals, families and communities with access to new clothing to restore some dignity during these challenging times.

Retail Banking Services Group Executive, Angus Sullivan, said: “We’re getting behind the important work that Thread Together do every day, and hope our joint effort to reach flood-affected regions with these services helps more communities receive much-needed essential clothing. These are communities which have been devastated by severe flooding more than once this year and we’re committed to supporting them on the path to a brighter recovery.”

Thread Together CEO, Anthony Chesler, said: “Sadly we find ourselves witnessing more devastation to people’s lives, livelihoods and possessions. These floods continue to highlight the immediate challenges many communities face, and for us it really emphasises the importance of giving people in need the dignity and choice of new clothing. With support from CBA, we’ll be able to expand our reach to even more communities.”

Thread Together clothing hubs and mobile wardrobes will be set up across New South Wales and Victoria in the coming weeks. To find out more and to access these vital services, visit www.threadtogether.org.
