Commonwealth Bank today launched a new financial wellbeing podcast, The Penny Drops, which follows media personality and 34-year-old father of two, Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson, in his quest to take control of his finances.

Like many millennials, Matty J admits navigating the world of finance can be tough at times. More than ever before, young Aussies need to have sharp financial management skills, and good tech resources to manage their money.

The Penny Drops is an immersive podcast series that will help Matty J and listeners understand key financial topics. A mix of CommBank experts and guests, including financial commentator, Effie Zahos and CEO of Relationships Australia, Elisabeth Shaw, help Matty demystify the world of finance, discussing money personalities, financial planning and budgeting, money and relationships, buying a home, investing and superannuation.

Matty J, host of The Penny Drops, said: “When I started working on this podcast, I quickly realised there were so many areas of finances I’d been neglecting. I’ve never written a budget, set financial goals or invested and I wouldn’t know where to start if you asked me how to pick the best superannuation fund. As daunting as it seems, I can’t wait to meet the experts, lay my finances bare and learn all the things I should have known years ago. And the best part is, listeners will get to come along for the ride and experience the world of finance with me!”

This podcast is peppered with Matty’s engaging style and sense of humour and has been designed to help listeners better understand their finances. A new episode will be released weekly on a Tuesday from 15 March.
