Help & support
Travel insurance is designed to cover you for a range of unexpected events that could happen when you’re travelling overseas or in Australia. It can give both financial and practical support for you and your family. Travel insurance can cover costs like travel delays, hospital expenses, damaged or stolen items.
You should consider buying travel insurance as soon as you have your trip booked and travel plan ready. If your policy includes cancellation cover it may give you an advantage if you have to cancel your trip due to unforeseen circumstances included within your insurance cover.
Yes, however there will be a three day no cover period before you can receive the policy benefits. This means there’s no cover under any section of the policy for any event that has occurred already or that arises within the first three days of buying the policy.
CBA Travel Insurance does not provide cover for sanctioned countries. If the country is subject to certain sanctions by the Australian government or the United Nations, Cover-More may be unable to offer any financial protection at all.
If your trip involves travelling to a country, or part of a country, where the Australian Government’s Smart Traveller website advises travellers to “Reconsider your need to travel” or “Do not travel”, and you choose to proceed with your trip, you should understand that Cover-More may not be able to provide emergency assistance in that location. This is because the current situation (which is the subject of the warning), may limit Cover-More's ability to offer assistance there.
You should select every country you will be travelling to for coverage. If you’re not sure of all your destinations, select a region instead. Cover then applies for travel to all countries within that region. You can also select Worldwide.
If you’re going on a cruise in Australia (e.g. on the Murray River) or in Australian Coastal Waters (e.g. a Kimberley Cruise), please choose “Australia” as your destination. If the cruise departs from a port in Australia to another port(s) in Australia without any stopover at a port outside Australia, choose “Domestic Cruising.”
If you’re going on an overseas cruise, choose the main area of destination based on where you will spend the most time on your trip.
If you’re stopping in a country for less than 72 hours, you do not need to enter or select that country.
If you know you’re pregnant, to receive cover, you’ll need to let Cover-More know of your pregnancy by completing a medical condition assessment.
CBA Travel Insurance provides cover for pregnancy, if it is a single, uncomplicated pregnancy, you have not had complications with any other pregnancy, up to the 24th week (i.e. up to 23 weeks, 6 days provided). Additionally, the pregnancy cannot be medically assisted (e.g. using assisted fertility treatment including hormone therapies or in vitro fertilisation).
If you do not meet this criteria, you will need to apply for cover for your pregnancy and if your pregnancy is accepted for coverage, pay any required additional premium.
CBA Travel Insurance automatically accepts cover for some existing medical conditions, subject to all the criteria outlined in the PDS. For this cover to apply;
If your existing medical condition falls outside the criteria under the conditions Cover-More automatically covers in the PDS, the insurance provider may still be able to cover you for an additional premium, subject to the outcome of a short medical assessment. You’ll instantly know if they’re covered. If approved, you may need to pay an additional premium to cover your existing medical condition.
If you’re 80 years old or over at the relevant time, to activate international travel insurance available for eligible cards, you will need to pay a premium and receive your Certificate of Insurance before your trip departure.
