Help & support
We’re committed to supporting organisations who make a difference in our communities. Over the past few months, customers have voted for their preferred organisations and we donated over $350,000 to organisations within local communities across Australia.
Over the last 12 months we have donated over $700,000. Here are some of our 2023 recipients and the amazing work they do.
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located inside major hospitals and are exclusively for the families of children undergoing treatment in a nearby ward. Run by friendly volunteers, the Family Rooms are welcoming spaces to take time out from the clinical environment of the wards, have a tea or coffee, freshen up with a shower or find a quiet space for a much-needed nap.
The donation from the team at St Marys Branch will be put towards the Nepean Hospitality Cart, which provides bedside support for kids in hospital, providing food and entertainment.
The Lake Albert Playgroup is run completely by volunteers. They host nine sessions each week for new mums, or mums with babies/toddlers aged 0-6 years.
The Playgroup offers free, unstructured play and also craft and fun activity days.
The aim is to provide a safe place for parents and children that is affordable and helps to build community engagement.
The Community Donation from the team at Wagga Wagga Branch will be used to fund creative art activities for all sessions and age groups of the Playgroup.
The modern Men’s Shed is an updated version of the shed in the backyard that has long been a part of Australian culture. Men’s Sheds are found in many cities and towns around Australia and the Mansfield Men’s shed is no different. Members work on personal projects, mainly woodworking.
The Community Donation from the Mansfield Branch will be used to purchase new tools to assist them in continuing their great work within the community.
The team at Point Cook Branch had the pleasure of donating to Helping Hampers Point Cook.
They have been helping out families in the Point Cook area who are in need of food with food hampers for the last few years. Their aim is to put food on the table when families are struggling.
Their service is not limited to food. They also help families connect with relevant support groups or organisations to ensure their ongoing wellbeing.
Wynnum Community Place is a centralised community hub that brings services together - connecting the community, delivering social solutions and providing food relief and financial assistance. They provide free support including community BBQs, haircuts, showers, laundry, a weekly sit down dinner and more.
The team at Wynnum Branch were so happy to provide their Community Donation to this amazing group, who work so hard for the local community.
The Moore Catchment Council is an not-for-profit organisation focusing on the protection and enhancement of the Moore River. The Moore River catchment extends from Coorow and Latham in the North, down to Guilderton and as far east as Bolgart.
The team at Moora Branch has presented their Community Donation to The Moore Catchment’s fundraiser, the Big Carnabys sculpture, which will raise awareness of the Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo, an endangered species. The Town of Moora is one of seven important breeding areas for the Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.
The Whyalla Branch team had the pleasure of donating to the Whyalla Men’s Shed, a grass roots community based organisation currently comprising of about 50 volunteers who meet regularly to socialise, make things, fix things and restore things.
The Whyalla Men’s Shed aims to improve the social and emotional well-being of its members by providing the opportunity for socialisation, camaraderie, friendship, providing a sense of identity and purpose, as well as opportunity for constructive endeavour and peer support.
