As we build tomorrow’s bank today, we’ll continue to experiment with new patterns of work that balance the needs our customers, teams and people.
Many of our teams have adopted hybrid working, where we complement coming into the workplace with working remotely. When the balance is right, we leverage the best of independent, focused time with in-person collaboration and connection.
We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half their time each month connecting in office. We also have many other flexible working options available including changing start and finish times, part-time arrangements and job share to name a few. Talk to us about how these arrangements might work in the role you’re interested in.

Working 9-5, five days a week doesn't work for everyone. Many of our roles provide the flexibility to adjust your start and finish times or to work fewer hours than a standard full-time job, while providing all the perks of a (pro-rata) full-time role. Examples of these include working a shorter fortnight, working part-time or job-sharing.
Even if a role doesn’t specify part-time or job-share, we always encourage you to ask whether it’s available.
Want to spend school holidays with your kids? Planning a week-long hike? Over and above annual leave, sick leave and long service leave, we offer further leave options to eligible employees. These include parental leave, additional purchased annual leave (up to 4 weeks), career breaks, carers leave, Sorry Business leave, pet leave, gender affirmation leave, family planning leave, community service leave, study leave, compassionate leave and unpaid leave. We even offer up to 5 days of life leave a year as an incentive for our people to recharge and use their annual leave allowance within the year it’s allocated.
We look after our people with competitive salaries, superannuation, salary packaging and performance incentive options.

“Do you want see a picture of him? That’s probably the sentence I’ve said more than any other in the last four months. Fatherhood has felt like some privileged 'club' that I've joined, and with every day that goes by, and every little change that occurs I get more grateful for my wife and son. His smile is the best part of my day.
An unexpected aspect of becoming a Father has been connecting with my parents on their memories of my childhood and building a deeper appreciation for everything that they did for me. Parental Leave has also changed so much since their generation and there's a lot I get to do as a Dad that is different to what was available to my parents.
Having carers leave in those first four weeks to support my newborn and wife was incredible. And the opportunity to take over as Primary Carer in a couple of months’ time is something I can’t wait for. I’m grateful to work in a business which is supportive of my choice to start a family.”
Unlimited volunteering leave? Yes please! Take some time either individually or as a team to make a real impact on your community.
If you’re passionate about a cause, our Pro Bono Services team connects communities and our people to provide pro bono consulting services to our community partner organisations.
We also work with the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) to provide mentoring services to students of ABCN-affiliated schools.
No matter who you are, at CommBank you can be you. Join us to be part of a workplace where people are genuinely valued for their individuality regardless of gender, age, cultural identity, disability or sexual orientation.
Our six employee-led networks play a vital role in creating an inclusive culture:
For more than a century, our people have been building brighter futures for Australians in need. Through workplace giving, CommBank supports our people to make pre-tax donations which are then matched dollar for dollar by the bank, amplifying the impact in the community.
We have long-term partnerships with The Clown Doctors, helping bring laughter to sick kids in hospitals, and Can4Cancer, in partnership with Tour de Cure, which is one of Australia’s largest corporate fundraising programs helping to change lives and end cancer.
And we also support the passions of our people. Each year, staff can nominate an organisation they care about to receive a Community Grant, helping them to continue the important work they do.
The Jawun Indigenous Secondment Program supports Indigenous organisations to deliver their own strategies and visions. This way we can help create real change and improve lives within Indigenous communities.
